Tonya McKenna Trabant Silver Club Coach

“The mind leads the body,” said my high school coach. He had many sayings and inspirations, and this one sticks with me forty years later. To me, the saying is about how athletes have a choice to balance both physical and mental aspects of sports. As a swim coach, I aim for swimmers to enjoy growth in both those aspects of their lives.

Swimming was a formative part of my childhood in Fairbanks Alaska; I swam year-round from age 7 to 18 and traveled with the team across Alaska, Hawaii, and Finland. Then I went on to assistant coach several years for my local swim club and my high school team. After that I was lifeguard and swimming instructor well into my thirties. I was a butterflier and sprint freestyler, and now I love swimming across and around our local lakes.

I care deeply about youth and community, and am honored to spend time on the deck helping swimmers enjoy the journey of being their best selves and swimming well.

Chloe Tainter Bronze Club Coach

Coach Chloe Tainter is a fun-loving coach for our bronze swimmers! As a senior in high school, she’s been swimming since she was around 7 years old, and her passion for the sport is contagious. Chloe's favorite stroke is the butterfly, with freestyle being a close second. Chloe's journey in swimming has led her to achieve some impressive milestones, including qualifying for state competitions and winning the Michelle Koss award. But what she loves most about coaching is helping young swimmers discover their potential and fall in love with the sport just like she did. Her goal is to create an environment where everyone feels excited to be in the water, learn new skills, and make lasting memories.

When she’s not coaching, you can find Chloe enjoying the outdoors with her friends and family, hitting the gym, or enjoying the beach and taking her dog, Echo, for walks. Family time is precious to her, and she loves creating memories with them, whether they're at home or on an adventure together.

Chloe’s coaching style is all about positivity and encouragement. She wants her swimmers to feel comfortable, empowered, and ready to tackle any challenge that comes their way. Inspired by Bethany Hamilton’s quote, "Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you. My faith in God has been my strength." Chloe believes that embracing challenges and developing resilience are key components of both swimming and life.

Chloe is excited to continue her journey in swimming as she plans to study nursing at a four-year university while swimming on the college team. For now, she can’t wait to dive into a fun season with all of you at the Antigo Swim Club!
